About me
Hello, and welcome to my page! I’m Gabriel Tremois, and if you’re reading this, you tried to look me up! If you’d like to get to know me better as a person and teacher, this section should clear up most, if not all of your questions.
Likewise, getting to know you is a high priority of mine as well! To better understand how I learned each language I speak fluently and teach, go to the tab right next to this called My Story. To find out what the story behind this business is, keep reading!
I was born in France and learned French while growing up and being schooled there. I spent several years without showing a particular “talent” or aptitude for languages.
If 24-year-old me had told 12-year-old me that I was on a path to being a teacher, educator or even a polyglot, I don’t think he would’ve believed me.
Yet here I am, and here’s how it happened:
Discovering Another World
At 14 years old and every year thereafter, I had the incredible privilege of spending time in the United States and being exposed to American culture.
Those experiences were brief, but they sparked something in me that never faded: the realization that there is more than one lens to see the world.
Learning English rapidly while immersed in American culture inside and outside the US—eventually becoming my second native language—changed everything.
I began to understand that languages are not just tools for communication or hobbies to pass the time.
They open doors, reveal new ways of thinking, and bridge cultures that might otherwise remain distant.
Speaking both French and English allowed me to see the world through two different lenses.
And the more languages I learned, the more I noticed something surprising:
People across cultures are often far more similar than we think.
Languages Becoming a Passion
In middle and high school, I began studying Spanish and Russian. Fluency didn’t come immediately—it developed later, during my college years.
Enrolling in college and majoring in Business Administration opened my eyes to entrepreneurship and to being in international environments.
There, I met people from all over the world, from countless cultures and backgrounds. It was that diversity which strengthened my desire to continue learning languages.
The pandemic, though it provided me with the opportunity of becoming a language tutor for the first time, was a tough and isolating time.
Schools moved online, lockdowns took their toll, and the quality of my college experience definitely took a hit.
Nevertheless, I was able to get through that time and managed to bring myself up to speed on Spanish and Russian, and also met the love of my life.
To spare you the rosy details, our encounter further motivated me to learn Italian, her second language alongside English. Being the lucky person that I am who had lots of time and connected the dots quickly between Spanish -> Italian <- French, I was able to pick it up and learn it to fluency in the space of a few months.
I used a range of methods, resources, and tricks that I delve into more in depth in My Story.
I was able to use Italian upon taking my first trip to my then-girlfriend’s (now wife) family home in Calabria, Southern Italy.
The Long Way Around
Over the years, I continued adding languages to my life—Portuguese, Mandarin, and German, among others.
Yet, I never seriously considered turning languages into a career.
To me, they were simply an interesting skill—something to mention in job interviews or use as a way to stand out.
By the end of 2023, I was working in Manhattan for a large logistics company. I assumed I might stay there for years and eventually work my way up.
But life had something else in store for me. As often happens, things rarely occur the way you imagine.
Which made me have to pack up and go by the end of the year!
Twists And Turns
My next opportunity took me to Toronto, Canada.
I decided I would try to build a career in Canada’s largest city. I lived in a shared house and eventually landed a customer service job at a major financial organization.
But the reality of the situation—being far from my beloved, difficult living conditions, and the way I was treated at work—eventually led me to quit and return to New York.
The months that followed were not easy. I couldn’t work for several months, though I tried to help family where I could. My wife and I were eventually forced to leave our apartment and uproot our lives. When I was finally able to work again, the job market wasn’t welcoming.
It wasn’t until much later while I was in France that my wife inspired me to work for a language school.
She convinced me on the streets of Paris that I could have a wonderful life, and said that my unique profile would enable me to make the living and live the life that I wanted.
When we got back to the States, I started looking near where we lived and called the second place that came up under “language school” on Google Maps.
I went for an interview the same day. I got the job.
Finding My Calling
For the first time, I truly loved what I was doing. Teaching languages felt natural, fulfilling, and meaningful.
But over time, I also realized there were limitations working within a traditional school structure. My teaching methods were increasingly restricted.
I was asked to rely heavily on textbooks and approaches that didn’t match how I believed languages should be learned.
That realization led to a simple but powerful idea:
Why not build something of my own?
Starting this business meant I could:
1. Teach languages using methods that actually work
2. Share all eight languages I’ve learned throughout my life
3. Build meaningful relationships with students from around the world
4. Create lessons and courses tailored to each individual learner
And perhaps most importantly—
It wouldn’t feel like work!!!
Where I Am Today
And that is how this adventure & business started. Looking back, I have no regrets about the path that led me here.
Every experience—good and bad—shaped the person & instructor I am today.
I get to work with passionate language learners from around the world, using a method I truly believe in: one that is practical, personalized, and designed to deliver real results.
Your story, your goals, and your curiosity are what fuel my motivation.
If you’ve made it this far into this and feel ready to start your own language journey with me, I am waiting for you!
